Puppy Start Right Preschool

JOIN THE FUN!

Puppy Start Right Preschool Classes are only available at our Apple Valley hospital.

Vet Partners Apple Valley will not be holding puppy classes this 2022 Spring/Summer/Fall season. Our instructor, Jodi, is expecting a little one of her own to arrive during this time and plans to start puppy classes again in the Spring of 2023.

Requirements

Our Canine guest’s health is importance to us. The following are required prior to puppy class:

Vaccines: 

Rabies (if age appropriate), DAPP (Distemper/Adenovirus/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza), & Bordetella

* Puppies must be started on their vaccination series at least 10 days prior to starting class. We cannot accept your pet without proof of vaccinations.

Testing:

A negative fecal test is required before your puppy’s first class.

Treatment:

Your dog must be flea free and have preventative on board prior to starting classes.

About Puppy Classes

Early puppyhood is a critical time for socialization and learning. Experiences during this time set the stage for the rest of your puppy’s life.

Age:

Puppies should be between the ages of 7-12 weeks of age when starting class.

* All household members involved in the daily care of the puppy should come to class.

Cost:

$99, clicker included

* Optional: Purchase “Puppy Start Right: Foundation Training for the Companion Dog” on Amazon

Timeline:

Classes are once weekly for 4 weeks

(Four, one hour puppy socialization and training classes)

Week 1: Health and Handling; Training: Sit

Week 2: Wheels and Children’s Toys; Training: Loose-Leash Walking

Week 3: Obstacles and Sounds; Training: Leave it, Drop it

Week 4: Costumes and Appearances; Training: Recall/Come

Jodi

Puppy Start Right Preschool Trainer and CVT

Jodi is a graduate of Ridgewater College with an Associate of Applied Science degree. She then went on to attain her Certification in Veterinary Technology. Jodi is also a graduate of the Karen Pryor Puppy Start Right for Instructors. Committed to teaching the most effective training techniques, Jodi pursues ongoing education and stays current on the best practiced dog training recommendations. Her focus is on creating a happy and balanced relationship between owners and their best friend. She has a passion for reading canine body language and working with a wide variety of dog behaviors to better transform the canine and human bond.
